Filters are small metal containers containing two fuel line connections enclosing a filtering medium. Some fuel filters come equipped with their own replaceable filter; most, however, are mounted upright with both lines connected directly to it.
Park the vehicle on level ground, secure it, and place a drip pan or plastic bucket beneath the filter to catch any gasoline that may spill. Use a wrench to loosen hose clamps and mounting hardware that connect into the filter; carefully unplug old filter, carefully unhook lines from old filter while being cautious not to damage rubber hoses or hardware in process of disconnecting lines from old filter, remove old filter then carefully reconnect lines to new fuel filter – be careful when disengaging lines back to it from former one; after installing new fuel filter reattach lines by tightening all hose clamps and mounting hardware as specified by manufacturer.
